Deaf Connections Commercial Plan

Deaf Connections has accepted the challenge of switching the financial focus and reliance of the charity away from public sector finance and towards commercial opportunity.  Unlike most charitable organisations Deaf Connections doesn't have to look far for opportunity.  The ability to help deaf and hard of hearing people communicate more readily through in-line interpreting services opens the doors to a range of private sector business opportunity, to more efficient and affordable communication of public sector services and above all to the commercial provision of hardware and software to deaf and hard of hearing users of this service.

On Line interpreting is not a replacement for face to face interpreting in many vital circumstances but it is a new opportunity to allow the deaf community to use interpreting services where and when they like for the most ordinary of activities.  Buying clothing, ordering a take-away, buying a holiday - indeed almost every everyday activity you might imagine.

But it takes two!
There needs to be a store or take-away or travel agent on the other end of the phone.  Just as we need to educate the public sector doctors, police, councils in the same way.  Accordingly, Deaf Connections have developed an entire commercial approach - to provide a consistent service UK wide and which invites its sister organisations, other deaf clubs and charities to take part, accessing systems and services they might not be able to afford on their own but leaving them to deliver the local service that's needed with the local knowledge that they possess.

Deaf Connections entire commercial platform is available - like a sort of franchise opportunity - which will help smaller deaf charities enhance service levels to deaf people and at the same time tap into new income steams for their organisation.  We are proving this initiative in Scotland now (May 2010) and will speaking to possible regional partners throughout the UK during summer 2010.

The options start with the Aupix communication platform and a standardised approach to on line interpreting throughout the UK but we reveal many more initiatives, opportunities and options to give sister organisations the reason to get involved - ultimately to speak with a united voice when it comes to lobbying for the communication needs of tomorrow and competing in an International market to provide high quality services to the deaf community.
